Seniors are informed about identity theft

Posted: Updated:

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Representatives from healthcare services and providers want to make sure the clients they work with are safe.

Northeast Arkansas Senior Networking Coalition met at the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library, Monday.

Guest speaker Justin Rolland of the Craighead County Sheriff's Department spoke to audience members about personal safety, identity theft and scams to be on the alert for.

Ruth Cullum with Superior Senior Care says they want to try to keep their clients safe.

"We want to make sure that they're safe as they walk in the later years of their life and we know there are so many things out there that impact them," said Cullum. "There are things that they are vulnerable to so we want to make sure they're safe."

"If we get this knowledge and impart that to the people that we deal with everyday, seniors and those who are disabled, certainly we can enhance the quality of their life and perhaps prevent something tragic from happening to them," Cullum said.

Representatives from approximately twenty different organizations attended the event.
