ADRIAN, MI (Toledo News Now) -

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. That was the case in Adrian, where North Face jackets being sold at a major discount turned out to be counterfeit.

A man tried to sell the counterfeit items out of his trailer over the weekend. He called it a 1-day sale and advertised the event in the local paper.

Adrian Police investigated after receiving tip that the jackets, hats and gloves were counterfeit. They immediately shut the site down.

"If you're being North Face, it should be real," said Deputy Chief Laurence Van Alstine. "You should be getting what you paid for, and North Face should be paid for the product they're putting out."

Van Alstine says if the products had been real, the total cost of everything police seized would be more than $146,000. The suspect would have sold it for just over $43,000 if he sold everything at the prices he advertised.
