OREGON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

OregonPolice have re-opened a case that has gone unsolved for 30 years.

Fordecades, friends and family of 17-year-old Sharon Ward have gone withoutanswers. Ward's body was found in Oregon in February of 1982.

"Shewas dumped in a field and had been struck in the head multiple times and hadher wrists slit," said Detective Sgt. Kelly Thibert of the Oregon PoliceDepartment.

Detectivesat the time were never able to close the case, and Ward's killer is still atlarge. Police decided to take another look at the case after communicating withWard's friend Karen Jones on Facebook.

"Rightnow, we're in the process of collecting all the evidence that does exist. Someof it is at different agencies," Sgt. Thibert said.

Butthat's only part of the puzzle.

"We'rehoping that people who knew stuff back then, who may have been reluctant tocome forward, come forward [now]," she said.

Joneshopes they do, too.

"There'sa killer out there, who got away with murder," Jones said. "He's gotten awaywith murder for more than 30 years."

Detectivessay new tips have already come in, and say they want to bring closure to thosewho knew and loved Ward.

Anyonewith information should call Detective Thibert at 419-698-7102.
