Jonesboro, Valley View agree in principle to play opener

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Region 8 Sports has learned that Jonesboro High School and Valley View High School have reached an agreement in principle to play each other next season.

If a final deal is reached then the game would be the opener for both teams and would be played at Liberty Bank Stadium.

No name for the game has been mentioned yet and final details are still in the works.

For the past 4 seasons Jonesboro has opened the season against Greene County Tech at Liberty Bank Stadium and has won all four games, each by an increasing margin of points.

Valley View in recent years has been playing Paragould, Greene County Tech's former opening game opponent, before agreeing to play in the Border Bowl against the Hurricane.

It appears the love triangle of teams will come the full 180 degrees if this game comes to fruition.

Before the Hurricane agreed to play GCT, they faced off with Nettleton on the field at Arkansas State in a game known as the "Crosstown Showdown".

Region 8 Sports will continue to keep you updated with details of the game as they are released by the two programs.
