Williams Baptist College Eagles opened their American Midwest
season on Tuesday afternoon against Freed-Hardeman University. The
soccer Eagles came away with a thrilling, double overtime 1-0 victory in
front of a large home crowd.
Leite steered home a Lucas Braga cross with little over one minute
remaining in the
second overtime to provide the only goal of the contest. It was Leite's
only shot on goal in the contest. Matheus Allonso led the Eagles with
three shots on target. Williams totaled 14 efforts on goal in the game.
"I was proud of the team. They battled the whole contest and when Yuri got his chance he
slid it home. It could not have happened to a better kid," said Head Coach Shane Stolz.
