BOWLING GREEN, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A jewelry store was robbed Wednesday in Bowling Green without anyone noticing until the next morning.

Four people were caught on surveillance video stealing a diamond from Waddington Jewelers. Store owners noticed the diamond was missing as they prepared to open the store Thursday morning.

The surveillance footage shows two women entering the store together, followed by one man, then another. They all kept the sales staff distracted, and had hand signals to each other.

"As soon as they had an opportunity to reach behind one of the cases, [they] grabbed a diamond, put it in their pocket, and continued pretending like they were interested in buying a diamond ring," said Ben Waddington, owner of the store.

Waddington says the stolen diamond weighed 1.84 carats and was worth $5,000. The suspects were in the store a total of 16 minutes, and the diamond was snatched nine minutes into the heist.

Now they're hoping the public can help.

"You look for these signs, you train your sales staff, but in the heat of the moment, everyone was busy," Waddington said. "They came in with a plan and they looked like they knew what they were doing. They even…had signals they were showing back and forth to each other, so they came in with this in mind."

Anyone with information about the theft or the suspects should call Bowling Green Police at 419-352-8775.
