Long Time Director Steps Down

September 25, 2004--Posted 5:00 pm CDT

Paragould, AR--After servingParagould’s Children’s Home for more than thirty years, Executive Director James Balcom is retiring.  Balcom says not to worry though he plans to still be involved in the Children’s Home, just not as much.

When Balcom began the home had only four cottages for children.  Next year they will complete construction on the tenth cottage for the facility.  They have also added a number of other buildings to the campus as well.

On Saturday the annual open house and fish fry was turned into a retirement ceremony.  There weren’t too many tears from people in the packed gymnasium, but many formed a long line afterwards to wish Balcom and his family well.

Children’s Home is a non-profit Christian organization which focuses on helping kids with no homes.  They are completely dependent on donation to survive.  If you would like to help you can call Children’s Home at 870-239-4031.

Did you know that every day in Northeast Arkansas someone loses their home to fire?  Sadly, injuries are often sustained and even worse, there may be loss of life.
