Car pummels into home with 6 people inside, no one injured

MOUNTAIN HOME, AR (KAIT)- A car pummels into a home with six people inside on Baxter County Road 27 Sunday morning.

Brian Scott Merrifield, 35, of Lakeview, was the driver of the Honda Accord when he ran a stop sign, tore through the home's backyard, struck a hot tub, and finally collided with the house. There were two adults and four kids in the home.

Two walls were destroyed. The homeowner says the vehicle just missed the bedroom where two kids were sleeping.

The house received damages estimated at $75,000 or more.

Merrifield is now charged with DWI, possession of drug paraphernalia, and careless driving.

He's being held in the Baxter County Detention Center on $1,310 bond.
