JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- Veteran service vans were in Jonesboro Tuesday to help with medical claims and counseling.
Veterans got a chance to file a medical claim or check the status of an existing claim. Counselors were also available to talk to veterans who may be suffering from post traumatic stress disorder. Two Disabled American Veteran officers were also present to answer any questions.
Billy Cribbs is the commander of Disabled American Veterans in Jonesboro and said they try to bring the mobile service vans out twice a year to help veterans in the area.
"The mainthing you need if you want to come here and check on your disability is yourDD214 and any medical records that you might have," Cribbs said. "Be sure to bring those withyou and if you don't have them come on down and we will try to help you anyway."
Cribbs said having these service vans help take the load off the local services officer when it comes to filing claims.
The service vans will be in Jonesboro on Wednesday for a second day. On Thursday they will travel to Pocahontas and Searcy on Friday.
