HIGHLAND, AR (KAIT) -A "dangerous" suspect who was on the run after a high speed chase with officers is now in custody.

Lawrence County Sheriff Jody Dotson tells Region 8 News Clifton Tillman of Alton, MO was arrested in Highland early Thursday morning. The sheriff says Tillman's cell phone led officers in Sharp County to his location. Dotson says he will be returned to Lawrence County soon.

According to Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, a deputy patrolling Highway 115 and Rowsey Road noticed a red Pontiac speeding. As the officer attempted to stop the car, it accelerated its speed to over 85 mph. The car turned off the road to avoid the officer.

A Smithville firefighter listening to radio traffic recognized a car matching the deception of the red Pontiac. The car was off and the driver was nowhere near the scene.

Lawrence County officials say the vehicle was out of Missouri. Missouri authorities were contacted and identified the driver as Tillman.

His charges include assault, burglary, and control substance. Tillman was on federal probation.
