FAYETTEVILLE, AR (AP) - Brandon Allen's return at quarterback was not enough for Arkansas to overcome Texas A&M, though it was exactly the kind of confidence boost the Razorbacks needed after a loss to Rutgers.
Allen was 17 of 36 for a career-high 282 yards and three touchdowns in the 45-33 loss to the No. 9 Aggies (4-1, 1-1 Southeastern Conference).
The game was the first one back for the sophomore after he injured his right shoulder while diving for a touchdown in the first quarter against Southern Mississippi two weeks ago.
Arkansas (3-2, 0-1) struggled offensively in Allen's absence, but it had 483 yards of total offense against Texas A&M.
Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema hopes that carries over this week as Arkansas travels to No. 18 Florida.
