A-State Tennis finishes competition at SIU Invitational

The Arkansas State women's tennis team competed in the Southern Illinois-Carbondale Invitational Sunday at University Courts in Carbondale, Ill.

The Red Wolves, Eastern Illinois, and host Southern Illinois-Carbondale all competed against each other in matches that only went to eight points in singles and six points in doubles.

Tamara Slijepcevic defeated EIU's Janelle Prisner 8-3, while Biljana Miloshevska claimed an 8-6 decision over EIU's Kelly Iden.  Jess Heeps-Eriksen beat EIU's Kamil Stadalninkait 8-4 and Chiara Stefanov recorded an 8-5 victory over Hannah Kimbrough of Eastern Illinois.  A-State's true freshmen both recorded victories on the day too as Victoria Pisani defeated Southern Illinois-Carbondale's Polina Dozortseva 8-2 and Julie Gauguery shut out EIU's Ali Foster 8-0.

Heeps-Eriksen/Pisani recorded A-State's only doubles victory over Stadalninkait/Kimbrough by a score of 6-3.

The Red Wolves continue its fall tournament schedule at the Louisiana-Lafayette Invitational Friday, Oct. 4 and Saturday, Oct. 5 in Lafayette, La.
