MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – Road construction on a Mississippi County bridge will cause drivers to take alternate routes.
The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department officials say that extensive work on the Highway 140 bridge near Etowah and Athelstan will require the bridge to close.
Highway 140 is the primary route between Osceola and Lepanto. Crews will be working to repair the bridge located over Little River, southeast of Etowah.
The closure began Monday and the AHTD expects it to last approximately six weeks. Drivers will detour on Highways 136 and 77.
The AHTD suggest drivers to use caution when traveling through highway work zones. Traffic will be controlled using barrels and warning signs.
