JONESBORO, Ark. (AStateRedWolves.com) – The Arkansas State women's basketball concluded the annual "Boyer Mile" event Tuesday evening by welcoming over 200 fans and participants to the final leg of the preseason conditioning program.
The "Boyer Mile" has been held on Tuesday nights during the month of September. While the team ran a timed mile each week, fans were able to join in the fitness promotion by walking or running the mile with the Red Wolves.
After the conclusion of the timed event fans and participants were treated to a post-run party that featured a meal, door prizes and music. Healthcare vendors from around the Northeast Arkansas area were also on hand to promote good health habits and being active through exercise.
The event also signaled the end of A-State's preseason conditioning and the squad will conduct its first team practice Wednesday, Oct. 2 at the Convocation Center. The Red Wolves welcome back eight lettermen to the squad including 2012-13 Sun Belt Conference Second Team pick Jane Morrill.
Arkansas State's season will get underway Oct. 28 when Harding visits The Convo for an exhibition game. The regular season gets underway Nov. 11 when the Red Wolves host Missouri State in Jonesboro, marking the first regular season opener in the Convocation Center since the 2008-09 season.
