Man stabbed in stomach during fight

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A boyfriend and ex-boyfriend involved in an early morning stabbing were both sent to the hospital.

Police began their investigation at 710 S. Caraway just before 1 a.m. Thursday. An officer spoke with the victim 20-year-old Joshua Bagwell. Bagwell told police he was confronted outside his apartment at the 800 block of S. Caraway by his girl friend's ex-boyfriend 19-year-old Jacob Johnson.

Bagwell told police he was "fearful for his life" and as Johnson attacked him, he took a pocket knife out and stabbed Johnson. Sgt. Doug Formon with Jonesboro police said Johnson was stabbed four times in the stomach.

Formon said Johnson was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Bagwell was also taken to a hospital after an officer saw he had a large cut to his thumb.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
