JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Arkansas State University announced Wednesday the Army Reserve Officer Training Corp program, or ROTC, will close.
According to a news release, the program is set to close down at the end of 2014-15 academic year. The U.S. Army funds and operates the ROTC programs around the country.
The program currently has 122 participants and is one of 13 programs to close nationwide.
Arkansas State Chancellor, Tim Hudson, said the Army came to the conclusion after it consider how it could still accomplish the mission with a reduction of resources.
Hudson said the university will do everything they can to reverse the decision.
