ASU women's basketball opens practice for 2013-14 season

JONESBORO, Ark. ( – The Arkansas State women's basketball team kicked off the 2013-14 season with the first official team practice on Wednesday (Oct. 2).

The Red Wolves return eight letterwinners, including 2012-13 All-Sun Belt Conference Second Team selections Jane Morrill who averaged 14.3 points per game a year ago. Leading rebounder Carlisha Wyatt also returns for her senior season, while top 3-point threat Hanna Qedan and inside post player Jalen O'Bannon is back after a solid freshman campaign. In fact, Arkansas State returns four of its top five scorers and its top two rebounders.

Donning the scarlet and black for the first time are freshman Jamie Ruffins, Aundrea Pipkins, Brittany Fowler and Dominique Oliver.

Fans can catch the Red Wolves at the Convocation Center on Monday, Oct. 28 when they take on Harding in the first exhibition contest of the season and tipoff is set for 7:05 p.m. A-State kicks off the 2013-14 regular season Monday, Nov. 11 when it welcomes the Missouri State Beats to Jonesboro. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m.
