ASU's Kristina Aubert named SBC Women's Runner of the Week

New Orleans ( – The Sun Belt Conference (SBC) has tabbed Arkansas State University's Kristina Aubert as this week's (Oct. 2) Women's Runner of the Week Award recipient for her first-place performance at this past Saturday's (Sept. 28) Rhodes College Invitational.  The announcement was made this Wednesday (Oct. 2) by the conference office.

The conference recognition represents the second for Aubert this season as she previously attained the weekly award following her second-place finish at the season-opening Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic (Aug. 31).

Aubert, a junior, earned individual medalist plaudits at the 23rd annualRhodes College Invitational in Memphis, Tenn., as she clocked a first-place20:20.0 time on the 6K course to help Arkansas State claim top honors among the 25-team field.  Aubert, who has been A-State's top runner in each of the Red Wolves' three races to date this fall, turned in a first-place showing at the Saint Louis Big River Forest Park Festival (Sept. 13) as a result of posting a 17:26.0 time in the 5K meet.

A 2012 All-Sun Belt Conference First-Team selection, Aubert has now been recognized as the SBC's Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week on seven occasions during her A-State career.  The two-time (2010 and 2012) U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division I All-South Central Region Team runner earned league weekly plaudits on four occasions (Sept. 14, 28 and Oct. 5, 19) in 2010 and once (Oct.3) this past 2012 season.
Aubert, who holds the distinction of being A-State's first-ever women's national qualifier, attained both SBC's Freshman of the Year and all-conference laurels in the 2010 campaign.

A-State has presently captured back-to-back meet titles in its last two appearances, winning both the Saint Louis (Mo.) Big River Forest Park Festival and the Rhodes College Invitational.

The Red Wolves, who are currently 12th in the latest (Sept. 30) United States Track and Field & Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division I South Central Region Rankings, will compete in the 12th Annual Greater Louisville Cross Country Classic this Saturday (Oct. 5) in Louisville, Ky.
