St. Bernards providing free mammograms for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – October is "National Breast Cancer Awareness Month" and St. Bernards is working to make sure Region 8 women are knowledgeable about breast cancer.

This is the fifth year for "Go Pink for the Cure Day."

St. Bernards rolled out the "St. Bernards Mobile Women's Health Unit" on Friday to provide free mammograms to uninsured women.

Doctors say exams for women between 40 and 65 are very important.

"It's important because that is the most likely time when women would have breast cancer. So it's very important that they do their breast self-exams and also be examined by a doctor and get a mammogram in that age group." said Julie Adamson.

Because of the popularity of Friday's event, St. Bernards will provide free examinations on October 12 at the Southwest Church of Christ. Doors will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
