Jonesboro church throwing thousands of pounds of meat on the grill for fundraiser

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – The 33rd Annual Blessed Sacrament Fall Festival kicked off this week and if you love barbecue, you'll want to stop by on Saturday.

The church is cooking up a whopping 12,000 lbs of meat on 10 grills.

It's being sold to help cover the church's operating costs.

The fundraiser started Thursday.

Barbecue Chairman Preston Marthey has been a part of this fundraiser for nearly 30 years and says there's fun for all ages. "We'll have a carnival out here, we'll have plate lunches, chicken lunches, sandwich lunches. We'll have all that squared away. We'll have a carnival for the kids, a live and silent auction." Marthey said.

The church is also throwing 3,000 lbs of chicken and 100 Boston butts on the grill.

Dinner sells at $7 for adults and $5 for children. Kids under 6 eat free.

Blessed Sacrament is located on Church street in Downtown Jonesboro.
