Memphis man dies in Region 8 after semi rear-ends his car

CRITTENDEN COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – A Memphis man died Friday night after his car was rear-ended and caught fire.

According to Arkansas State Police, Burl Brooks Jr., 61, was at a complete stop on the slow lane of Interstate 55 at around 9:45 p.m. Police said a semi rear-ended his car causing it to catch fire. The car then came to rest on a guard rail.

Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
