USC-Tennessee kickoff scheduled for noon

Posted: Updated:

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) – The South Carolina Gamecocks and Tennessee Volunteers will kick off at noon on Saturday, October 19, the SEC announced today. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.

The No. 14/12 Gamecocks are off to a 4-1 start this season, including a 2-1 mark in the SEC. They will travel to Fayetteville this weekend for a matchup with the Arkansas Razorbacks (3-3, 0-2 SEC). Tennessee (3-3, 0-2 SEC) is idle this week.

Tennessee leads the all-time series, 22-7-2, including a 14-2 advantage in Knoxville. South Carolina has won each of the last three meetings. They had never won back-to-back meetings against the Vols prior to the current streak. Carolina won by a 38-35 count in Columbia last season and by a 14-3 margin in 2011, the last time they met in Knoxville.

Dylan Thompson threw for three touchdowns and No. 24 South Carolina's maligned defense stood strong on a fourth-quarter goal line stand to topple No. 6 Georgia 38-35 on Saturday night.
No. 24 South Carolina's defense showed it's not nearly as bad as it looked two weeks ago - and maybe that No. 6 Georgia isn't the runaway favorite in the Southeastern Conference Eastern Division.

Georgia can establish itself as a top-tier beast if it gets by South Carolina this weekend - and USC would drop to 0-2 in the league with a loss. Tennessee travels to Oklahoma, where Coach Bob Stoops doesn't believe the SEC is all-powerful.
