Baptist Health Systems to Close Osceola Hospital

SEPTEMBER 29, 2004 - Posted at 7:23 a.m. CDT

OSCEOLA, AR - Osceola will be without a hospital by the year's end.  The Memphis-based Baptist Memorial Hospital Systems released a statement earlier this week revealing plans to consolidate the services of its Osceola facility with the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Blytheville.

The company plans to begin moving services from Osceola to Blytheville by December 1.  Baptist cites a declining patient volume and difficulty in recruiting doctors to Osceola as primary reasons for the decision.

K8 News will have more information on this story later today.
