Another Arkansas Student Killed in School Bus Accident

SEPTEMBER 29, 2004 - Posted at 7:39 a.m. CDT

BENTON, AR - A nine-year-old boy was killed in Saline County yesterday when he was struck by an SUV after he got off a school bus.

Police say William "Isaac" Brian died from his injuries after the accident.

Benton police say the boy had gotten off the bus and crossed the street in front of the bus.  The SUV hit the boy just before he made it to the curb.

Police say the bus had its lights on and followed proper safety procedures.  Benton Police Sergeant Lisa Wylie said it appeared the driver who struck the boy failed to stop for the bus, as required by law.

The accident happened almost one month after an eight-year-old Jonesboro boy was killed in a bus accident.  Brian Davis died after riding his bicycle into the path of a Jonesboro School District bus in front of South Elementary School on August 31.
