Franklin police release music video for non-emergency number

FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV) -

The Franklin Police Department is hoping a catchy new song will help cut down on a problem that puts people's lives at risk.

Franklin officers say people call 911 even when they don't have a life-threatening emergency.

But a new music video featuring several officers reminds people of the correct number to call.

"I dial 794-2513 and the Franklin police will answer me, 794-2513 when it's not a life or death emergency," sings Officer Jeff Carson.

Carson is a six-year veteran with the department and a former recording artist.

He got to work on the project after a communications employee suggested it as a way to teach people the non-emergency number.
