SYLVANIA, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Police in the city of Sylvania and Sylvania Township say several car windows were smashed in over the weekend.

Four break-ins happened off Brint Road, in the area of Tamworth Road and Weldwood Lane. The owner of one of the cars says damage will cost her about $1,000.

Sylvania Township Deputy Police Chief Ray Carroll says nothing was reported stolen, but this crime could earn those responsible some jail time.

"This happens once in awhile," Carroll said. "There's ignorant people who go out and just break windows for no purpose at all…Depending on how many windows are broken, it could be a felony."

More than 10 cars were damaged total. The deputy chief wants residents to keep an eye out and report any suspicious activity to police.
