NAPOLEON, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Napoleon Police are investigating several reports of assault in the schools.

Amber Wilhelm is one of several Napoleon parents who say their child has been physically bullied.

"He was being kicked as he was coming off the bus. Those same students have punched him in the head, kicked him in the head, thrown scooters at him," she said about her son. "It makes me want to pull him out of school."

Wilhelm took her child to the hospital and filed a police report about the incident.

Police say there have been four assault complaints reported to them from the middle school since the start of this school year, and one from the high school. They say they're investigating one case where a 14-year-old boy is accused of beating a classmate with his belt at school and then posting a video of it to social media.

That 14-year-old could face assault charges.

"As soon as it starts to become physical, that truly is assault," said Napoleon Superintendent Dr. Stephen Fogo. "And that needs to be a matter dealt with by the police."

Fogo says they have an anti-bullying program in place, but says he's also working on a way to increase communication with parents.

"If you don't feel like your child is being addressed correctly, or an issue is being taken care of, please call me and I assure you it will be taken care of," he said.

But Wilhelm says there's only so much the school district can do.

"It's also the parents. We all have to come to an agreement and teach our kids better, not to fight, not to bully," she said.
