WILMINGTON, NC (WECT) – Due to the government shutdown, officials with Elderhaus Adult Day Care recently found out they won't be getting funding for October.

But now, the department of social services won't give Elderhaus the $4,000 they've already used for services in September.

Elderhaus says no funding means they'll have a difficult time taking care of adults in the program,  including adult cases from adult protective services.

Linda Pearce, the CEO of Elderhaus, says the government shutdown could mean life or death for some of the adults in the program, and that Elderhaus would be happy to accept the $4,000 they won't be getting the services offered in September.
