LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -The Hoxie Fire Department hosted anopen house on Saturday to give the community a chance to tour the firehouse andsee the new equipment.

Firefighters also gave out information on the services theyprovide, like installing fire alarms. "We do this to coincide with fireprevention week," said Will Tate, the assistant fire chief. "We will do somelectures and stuff like that if people want to come and ask questions." Tate alsosaid that the open house is also a way to recruit people for the firedepartment's internship program.

The department sold Boston butts and had live music from a localband. The Hospital Wing helicopter also made an appearance, landing in front ofthe fire department at 2 p.m. for the event.
