LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Willson joined the UA faculty last year and is doing research on amphibians, aquatic reptiles, and invasive snakes.
That includes work examining the impact of invasive Burmese pythons in the Florida Everglades.
The snakes have troubled Florida's fragile ecosystem since 1992, when Burmese pythons were released into the wild after Hurricane Andrew destroyed many pet shops.
Wildlife officials in Florida are working to cull the stakes from the Everglades and other wilderness.
