PARAGOULD, AR - The Greene County sheriff says he is receiving complaints about gambling in his jurisdiction just months after complaints about bingo and other gaming in neighboring Randolph County.
But Sheriff Dan Langston says none of the suspect organizations' actions fall under the "gambling house" statute and neither could be construed as using a "gaming device."
Langston says he received compaints about fund-raisers by a baseball league and a gymnastics club.
One complaint alleged that one group sold raffle tickets and gave away a cash prize; the other said winners received gifts from Paragould businesses.
