OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (AStateRedWolves.com) – Senior Easton Key led the Arkansas State men's golf team through the first two rounds of play at the Bill Ross Intercollegiate on Monday, shooting a combined 141 at the Milburn Golf and Country Club to place him in a two-way tie for first place.
The Red Wolves are tied for ninth place among 15 teams after shooting a 305 and 293 for the first and second rounds, respectively. A-State's 598 total left it one stroke behind eighth-place UMKC and within 10 strokes of fourth-place Wichita State. Central Arkansas leads the tournament with a 579.
Key posted a first-round 73 and followed with a team-best 68, which vaulted him from tied for 13th place to the top of the leader board. Also competing for the Red Wolves, Matthew Loiacano and Alex Hewitt are tied for 48th place after both shot a 153. Landon Hearnes is tied for 57th place with a 154 and Chance Holden tied for 71st with a 156.
The tournament's third and final round is scheduled to begin Tuesday morning.
