SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

With lawsuits piling up, WTOC has learned of a new claim against the Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Department,  former police Chief Willie Lovett and the City of Savannah.

We've been hearing new lawsuits and claims could be on the way, and here is the latest. A Savannah beat patrol officer claimed  harassment, among other charges, after he filed a sexual harassment claim with internal affairs several years and claims he was retaliated against ever since.

The city and the police department  were put on notice Thursday. APO Michael Kerr's attorneys filed an official claim along with a pre-litigation notice listing retaliation for reporting sexual harassment, denied promotions, discrimination and conspiracy by the department to hide inappropriate conduct, among other claims.

Michael Kerr's attorney, Will Claiborne, alluded to more legal problems for the former chief and the city last week.

"With Chief Lovett out of the picture, more people are able to come forward and tell their stories," Claiborne said. "I can confirm we have been contacted by other victims."

City officials told WTOC this afternoon they were aware of the claim by Kerr, but still hadn't seen the claim, which states Kerr's intention to sue and also names several other officers within the department.

We are still learning more about the specifics of the claim and will keep you posted.
