Abilities Unlimited celebrating 50 years of service

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Abilities Unlimited is celebrating 50 years of community service.

The organization started back in 1964 with a small, $16,000 grant. In the beginning, it only served a few people in Craighead County. It has expanded to 400 people across 18 counties.

Heather Holmes says while the organization has grown considerably over the years, the mission remains the same. "All of those opportunities are given to individuals with disabilities jobs, right here in Jonesboro.  So, your money stays local.  You help local individuals and that's what Abilities Unlimited is all about."

To celebrate 50 years of service, the group held an open house on Friday.
