LAWRENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) -With the low temperatures falling into the 40s this week the countdown to the holiday season has begun. The women at Hoxie United Methodist Church got a taste of Christmas on Saturday at their "Christmas in October" cooking school and cookbook sale.
The class allowed the women to sell a cookbook they put together about four years ago.
Guests were able see area chefs prepare dishes from the cookbook, "Taste and See", so that they could make them for their own holiday events.
Vice President Lida Tinker said the money from projects like this one go towards their mission projects in the community. "We use the funds that we make from this to provide food for our food pantry, and we help with the children's shelter here in Lawrence County," said Tinker. "We also do a local missions for the schools with school supplies."
A table was also set up with items available for purchase including crocheted scarves, knitted dishrags, bead jewelry, string angels, and sourdough breads, as well as copies of the featured cookbook.
