Two Alabama lawmakers say it's time to replace school textbooks with electronic devices.

State Sen. Gerald Dial of Lineville and Rep. Jim McClendon of Springville argue that textbooks are irrelevant.

They've sponsored a bill asking for $100 million in bonds to complete the conversion. Both say the state could eventually save $15 million by replacing books with laptops or tablets.
