(CNN) – Sen. Jeanne Shaheen is calling on the White House to extend the open enrollment period for Obamacare amid problems with the website.
The New Hampshire Democrat sent a letter to President Barack Obama Tuesday asking that enrollment be expanded beyond the March 31 cutoff date.
She also suggested the administration consider delaying penalties for those who don't sign up for health insurance until the issues are fixed.
Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said a team of experts from within the government and from Silicon Valley have been tapped to work on the website.
