(Toledo News Now) -

So many moms these days try to stay rail thin during or after pregnancy, but some go to extremes avoid the weight gain while they are pregnant. It's called "Mommyrexia" and it's a real problem some say is exacerbated by cultural pressures women face every day.

Magazines splash pictures of celebrities like Bethenny Frankel, Rachel Zoe and Victoria Beckham all over their covers comparing the bodies of pregnant celebrities in the "baby weight battles."

At the same time, they refer to celebs like Kim Kardashian as a "whale."

What are the real-world effects of this kind of behavoir? Have we made it OK to put body pressures like this on ourselves and the women in our lives? Have we made it OK to call women names when they are pregnant?
