TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A murder suspect wanted in Toledo surrendered himself to police late Friday night.

CBS affiliate WBNS in Columbus spoke to the mother of Mariah Wells, the woman Toledo Police say was shot and killed by Dimitrias Graves Wednesday, October 23, in north Toledo.

According to Wells' mother, Marie White, her daughter and Graves were in a relationship and visiting relatives in Toledo at the time of the shooting. She said detectives told her a fight broke out and Graves ran in the home to grab a gun. When he started shooting, Wells was hit in the back, but detectives do not believe he shot her intentionally.

There was an active search for Graves in Newark, OH, about 30 miles east of Columbus.

Around 11 p.m. Friday night, Graves turned himself into homicide investigators at the Safety Building in Toledo.

The investigation into Wells' murder continues. Mariah Wells was 22 years old and the mother of a 4-year-old son.
