SAN MARCOS, TX (ASU) —The Arkansas State women's soccer team fell to Texas State 3-0 in the regular season finale for both teams Sunday afternoon at the Texas State Soccer Complex.

A-State finishes the regular season with a 9-7-2 overall record and a 4-4 mark in Sun Belt Conference play. The Red Wolves will be the No. 6 seed going into the SBC Tournament Nov. 6-10 after Troy and UL Lafayette tied Sunday afternoon, giving the Trojans an extra point and vaulting them into the fourth position in the league standings.

A-State was forced to play with final 30 minutes of the match a player down after goalkeeper Amanda Lee was sent off with a red card in the 61st minute. She exited after making four saves and giving up just one goal.

"Once we went down a player it became difficult to get back against this well coached team," A-State head coach Tafadzwa Ziyenge said. "We however, are focused and ready for the playoffs."

A-State fell behind in the 37th minute when Clarissa Leon scored on a one-on-one matchup with the goalie with a shot to the back right corner of the goal for the early advantage.

The Bobcats scored again in the 69th minute on an attempt by Lynsey Curry and then scored the match's final goal in the 88th minute on a goal by Gabbi Cottee to set the final at 3-0.

Katey Carmichael and Jordan Adams led the Red Wolves with two shots each on the afternoon, while Katie Hosea, Christine Giles, Samhia Simao and Jenna Duerst each had a shot land on goal.

The Red Wolves will play UL Lafayette in the opening round of the SBC Tournament Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. in San Marcos, Texas. This will be the first meeting between the Red Wolves and the Ragin' Cajuns in the conference tournament.
