14-year-old girl dead after St. Francis Co. crash

CALDWELL, AR (KAIT) – A crash involving three vehicles results in the death of a teenage girl while injuring four more.

The crash happened Monday morning around 7:45 on Arkansas Highway 1 north of Caldwell, AR. According to Arkansas State Police, Heather Howell, 14, of Colt died at the scene.

The Jeep Liberty Howell was riding in was hit head on by a pickup truck as it crossed into the turn lane heading north. The truck was driven by Justin Marquis, 32, of Colt, according to police. A Freightliner, traveling behind the Jeep, then hit the SUV.

In addition to Howell, the driver of the Jeep and two male passengers with unknown ages were injured and taken to a Memphis hospital. Marquis was injured as well.

The Freightliner driver from Lake City was not injured in the crash.
