Marlo Stacy leads WBC Soccer Eagles to inaugural win

From Williams Baptist College

The Williams Baptist College Lady Eagles soccer squad ended its season in spectacular fashion with an impressive 6-0 rout against Stephens College on Friday in Walnut Ridge.

The victory against Stephens will go down in the WBC record books as the first win in school history for the team. The game will also be remembered for impressive team and individual performances.

Williams held an early 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal from freshman Marlo Stacy.  The squad would seize momentum in the second half, however,by scoring five goals to put the contest well out of reach for Stephens.

As a team, Williams outshot the Stars 23-3 in the contest.  Stacy, a Greenbrier nativeset the women's school record of four goals in a single contest. Presley Owen, a junior from Jonesboro, also contributed with a goal and a school record two assists. Reagan Raper added the other goal for WBC, and Hailey Norris contributed with an assist on the last Stacy goal of the match.

"Marlo has been one of the best players in the conference this season.  Despite being a freshman, she has been a fantastic leader on and off the field for our team.  But this victory was a total team win.  I am extremely proud of each and every girl on this squad," said Head Coach Shane Stolz.

The Lady Eagles honored senior and captain Carolina Vela before the start of the contest. This game was not only the final home game, but also the final game for Williams this season. With a young squad returning most of its starters next season, the future looks bright for the Williams Baptist College Lady Eagles soccer team.
