NEA Food Bank warns residents about scam

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Representatives with the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas want to make sure you're not getting scammed.

Christie Jordan, Executive Director of the NEA Food Bank, said several Jonesboro residents have called their office claiming they were contacted by someone claiming to be with the food bank asking for donations via credit cards.

Jordan said if you receive a phone call like this, it is not them.

"We just want everyone to know that while we do have a lot of volunteers that collect food donations and ask for contributions on behalf of the Food Bank of Northeast Arkansas, they should never ask for your credit card information," said Jordan.

Donations can be made by credit card, but it is done privately on their secure website. Jordan said no one from the food bank will call residence wanting credit card information.
