Region 8 students are rewarded with BMX show

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Students at one Region 8 school got a close-up look at some impressive stunt work by the BMX Freestyle Connection group.

Freestyle Connection riders put on a show for students at the Visual and Performing Arts School Tuesday. This bike show was a reward for students' recent hard work in raising money for the school.

"It's a chance for the kids to get to contribute to what comes into their classroom," said Pam Willard, Visual and Performing Arts School Fundraising Chair. "Cause everything that's raised from this fundraiser goes directly to benefit the kids."

Kyle Kelsey, BMX rider said while they perform stunts for students, they try to instill valuable lessons.

"Try to get kids to stay in school and understand you don't have to go with the crowd to be cool," Kelsey said.

The VPA students raised a little over $12,000 in the recent fundraiser.
