(CNN) – Maintenance to the Obamacare website, Healthcare,gov, on Tuesday night prevented customers from submitting new insurance applications.
Verizon says federal officials asked the company to provide additional computing and storage ability.
A company spokesperson says the fix will help "eliminate application downtimes."
The website was expected to be brought back online when the maintenance was complete.
On Sunday, an outage traced back to Verizon left customers unable to apply for coverage.
Healthcare.gov has been plagued with a strong of mishaps since launching on Oct. 1.
