Gamecocks, Tigers up in AP poll

COLUMBIA, SC (TheBigSpur.com) South Carolina jumped one spot in the latest Associated Press Poll released on Sunday morning. The Gamecocks, ranked No. 13 in the new poll, extended its home winning streak to a school record-tying 15 straight games with a 34-16 victory over Mississippi State at Williams-Brice Stadium.

The Gamecocks (7-2, 5-2) have been ranked 58 consecutive weeks in the poll, which extends their school record-long streak. South Carolina is tied with Stanford for fifth-longest current streak of being ranked in the AP Top 25.

Head coach Steve Spurrier and his team will return to game action on Saturday, November 16 against Florida. Kickoff time and television coverage should be announced on Monday.

Alabama, despite being off, holds onto the top spot in the national rankings The Crimson Tide have now been ranked for 92 consecutive weeks in the AP Poll.

Missouri, which was ranked 10th nationally with its only loss being at home to the Gamecocks, clobbered Tennessee 31-3. The Tigers moved up a spot and are now ranked ninth.

LSU, ranked No. 11 entering the weekend, had its second bye week of the season. The Tigers also moved up a spot with Miami losing to Florida State.

Auburn moved up a spot to No. 7 nationally with its 35-17 victory over Arkansas. Texas A&M moved up a spot and are ranked No. 11.

Clemson also moved up one spot to No. 8.
