Suspect wanted in Dollar Store theft

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WFXG) -

A man buying a candy bar in North Augusta Saturday night decided he wanted cash too, and tried to take it from the register.

According to Crime Stoppers, it happened at a Dollar General on Edgefield Road just before 9 p.m.

Surveillance pictures show the suspect paid for the candy bar, then reached across the counter as the clerk opened the register and grabbed money.

Investigators said the man got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. They also said there was a struggle with the cashier before he ran out the door.

The suspect then got into the passenger side of a beige, four door sedan. The vehicle was last seen turning south on Edgefield Road.

Anyone with information is being asked to call 803-279-2121.
