Man with BB gun leads to a lockdown at Newark Elementary

NEWARK, AR (KAIT) – The Newark Elementary School went on lockdown after shots were heard Monday morning, near the area.

Dr. Ann Webb is the superintendent for the Cedar Ridge School District and said the district went on lockdown at around 11:30 a.m. while police investigated.

Police found a man shooting dogs with a BB gun.

Dr. Webb said the lockdown lasted for about 20 minutes and students were never under any kind of threat.

No arrest have been made at this point.
