MIDWAY, AR (KAIT) – Charges have been filed against another Mountain Home man involved in an October home invasion.

Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery said in a news release Michael Gene Coplen, 44, was charged Tuesday with several felonies including aggravated residential burglary, false imprisonment, terroristic threatening and theft of property and possession of firearm by certain persons.

Montgomery said in an earlier news release that Kyle Michael Motes, 21, and Coplen went to James Tyler Patterson's home on Bartwood Ln. in Mountain Home on Oct. 11.

According to Montgomery, Motes and Coplen went inside the home and Patterson showed them a pistol he had stolen in an unrelated case.

Coplen loaded the gun and pointed it at Patterson's head while Motes tied his hands and feet with duct tape, placed a sock in his mouth and restrained him to a chair. Patterson was beaten while tied up, but was later able to free himself and call police, Montgomery said.

The stolen pistol was later seen in Motes' possession.

Motes was charged with aggravated residential burglary, false imprisonment, terroristic threatening and theft of property.

On Nov. 4, Motes was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center and is still being held on a $75,000 bond there.

Coplen is also being held in the same jail on a $75,000 bond. He will appear in court Thursday.
