MIDWAY, AR (KAIT) – Charges have been filed against another Mountain Home maninvolved in an October home invasion.
Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery said in a news releaseMichael Gene Coplen, 44, was charged Tuesday with several felonies including aggravatedresidential burglary, false imprisonment, terroristic threatening and theft of propertyand possession of firearm by certain persons.
Montgomerysaid in an earlier news release that Kyle Michael Motes, 21, and Coplen went toJames Tyler Patterson's home on Bartwood Ln. in Mountain Home on Oct. 11.
According to Montgomery, Motes and Coplen went inside the home andPatterson showed them a pistol he had stolen in an unrelated case.
Coplen loaded the gun and pointed it at Patterson's head whileMotes tied his hands and feet with duct tape, placed a sock in his mouth andrestrained him to a chair. Patterson was beaten while tied up, but was laterable to free himself and call police, Montgomery said.
The stolen pistol was later seen in Motes' possession.
Motes was charged with aggravated residential burglary, falseimprisonment, terroristic threatening and theft of property.
OnNov. 4, Motes was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center and is stillbeing held on a $75,000 bond there.
Coplenis also being held in the same jail on a $75,000 bond. He will appear in courtThursday.
